The grey-market problem

Nitecore HQ does not honour warranty claims on units sold outside the authorized distribution network. If your light fails at month four, you are on your own. The seller will point you back to Nitecore. Nitecore will point you back to the seller. Nobody fixes the light.

How to spot grey stock before you buy

Three quick checks before you pull the trigger on any other Singapore seller:

  1. Ask for the warranty terms in writing. A grey importer cannot give you a Nitecore HQ-honoured warranty because they do not have a distribution agreement. If the answer is vague, the warranty is not real.
  2. Cross-check the seller against our authorized dealer list. If they are not on the list, the warranty is not real either.
  3. Check the price. If it sits significantly below market across multiple SKUs, the seller is either skipping warranty obligations, moving units HQ will not back, or both.

If you bought Nitecore at a Singapore retail shop, there is a good chance the unit came through us. Warranty claims from authorized retail partners route back to our Singapore service centre, so you are already in the same support network as buyers who purchase direct from this site.

It also explains why authorized retail and grey imports cannot be compared like-for-like. Our retail partners get full merchandising support, demo units, ongoing training, and warranty backstop. They can recommend the right product, demonstrate it, and stand behind it because they are not gambling on a one-off shipment. The product on their shelf has a chain of accountability behind it from Nitecore HQ to us to the shop to you. That chain does not exist for grey imports.
