The low angle a headlamp cannot give you
A headlamp sits at eye level, so its light flattens the trail and hides the dips and edges you most need to see going downhill.
Held low in the hand, the TrailSight lights the ground from the side. That raking angle lifts every rock, root and rut into relief, so you read the terrain a stride sooner and keep your speed on the descents where it counts.
1,200 lumens, 530 metres of trail
The UHi 20 LED and a purpose-built reflector put a bright, far-reaching beam down the trail, up to 530 metres at full output.
The reflector blends a long central throw with a wide surround, so you see the turn coming at distance and the footing right in front of you at the same time. No tight tunnel of light, no dark edges.
Runs from dusk to dawn
At the 400 lumen setting the TrailSight holds for 14 hours, so it lasts a full overnight run on a single battery.
Full 1,200 lumen output runs 5 hours, and the 150 lumen low stretches to 46 hours for camp and easy sections. Intelligent thermal regulation keeps the output steady rather than letting it fade as the light warms up.
The lock that keeps the light on
Slide the button one way and the TrailSight locks on. The brightness holds and the light cannot be switched off or changed by a knock, a branch or a fumbled grip on a descent.
Slide it the other way when the light is off and it locks out instead, so it will not switch on by accident in a pack or a vest pocket. One button runs everything: a short press for mid, a long press for high, and the slide lock in both directions. It is easy to work one-handed, in the dark, on the move.
Magnesium alloy, 121 grams
The body is die-cast magnesium alloy under a reinforced composite outer shell, the same reason it comes in at just 121 grams.
Magnesium sheds heat well and stays light, so the TrailSight sits easy in the hand over a long run and shrugs off the heat of sustained high output. The shell adds grip and takes the knocks of trail use.
Slips into a vest, grabbed on the move
The near-uniform diameter body slides straight into a vest pocket, a waist belt or a pack side pocket and pulls back out just as fast, even at a run. At 121 grams there is almost nothing to notice until you need it.
Neutral white for clear vision
A tuned neutral white beam renders the trail in natural colour rather than a harsh blue-white.
It reads more like daylight, which cuts glare bouncing back at you in rain, snow and fog and makes the ground easier on the eyes hour after hour. You pick out detail and depth on the trail with less strain.
Built for the 100-mile night
The TrailSight runs on a standard NL1840R 18650, so a spare charged cell drops in when the first runs low, with no wait mid-race.
The battery charges over USB-C straight from a power bank, and it is the same NL1840R that powers Nitecore's UT6 trail-running headlamp, so a headlamp and flashlight pairing can share cells across a long overnight effort.
Rated for rain, mud and drops
IP68 DUST AND WATER RESISTANT - Sealed against dust and submersible to two metres, so rain, stream crossings and a muddy trail are all well within what it handles.
1 METRE IMPACT RESISTANCE - Drop tested to a metre onto hard ground, which is roughly what a light takes when it slips from your hand at a run.

Why a handheld light for running instead of a headlamp?
Held low in the hand, the beam rakes across the ground from the side and throws the shadows that reveal rocks, roots and dips. A headlamp at eye level flattens that detail. Many runners carry both and reach for the handheld on technical descents, which is exactly what the TrailSight is built for.
What does the illumination lock actually do?
Sliding the button to lock while the light is on holds the current brightness and stops it being switched off or changed, so a knock or a branch on a descent cannot kill your light. Sliding to lock while it is off does the opposite and prevents it turning on in a pack. Conventional lights only offer the off-lock.
Can I use my own 18650 batteries?
Yes, with button-top 18650 cells. The recommended NL1840R comes in the box and recharges over USB-C. Flat-top 18650 cells are not compatible, so keep to button-top or the NL1840R for a reliable connection.
